Deputies: Jacksonville woman tried to strangle 6-year-old

JACKSONVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) - A Jacksonville woman has been arrested after she tried to strangle a six-year-old, the Onslow County Sheriff’s Office said.

Detectives with the Onslow County Sheriff’s Office Special Victims’ Unit received a report of suspected child abuse on November 27.

Shoshannah Scarlett-Booth, 38, was arrested on Wednesday following an investigation. She was initially charged with felony intentional child abuse inflicting serious injury and felony assault by strangulation. 

After a search during the booking process, she was also charged with three felony counts trafficking opium and/or heroin, two counts off felony possession with intent to manufacture/sell/deliver Schedule II controlled substance and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia

Scarlett-Booth has been detained in the Onslow County Detention Center under a $132,000 secured bond.
