East Carolina University campus administrators are instructing students to evacuate residence halls on campus.
Residence halls will close at 10 a.m. Wednesday.
The university said students living in residences off campus are strongly encouraged to travel home and arrive at their destinations before dark Wednesday.
ECU has canceled classes scheduled to start after 12 p.m. Tuesday and will not hold classes for the remainder of the week. That includes online classes.
The ECU Call Center is in operation at 252-737-5100 for students, parents and staff who have non-emergency questions related to the hurricane.
It will be staffed 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday.

ECU Physicians clinics are closed beginning Wednesday, Sept. 11 at 5 p.m. through Friday, Sept. 14.
The university plans to send ECU Alert messages regarding next week's schedule by early afternoon Saturday, Sept. 15.
