KINSTON, N.C. (WNCT) - Chris Suggs, 18, founder and CEO of the youth-led non-profit organization "Kinston Teens" was selected as a Youth Fellow for the Facebook Community Leadership program.
"It's a program that features a hundred and fifteen participants from all over the world, 46 different countries represented, 15 young people, and I am fortunate to be one of the young people selected for this program, " said Suggs.
Over the next year, Facebook will be training Chris and Kinston Teens on how they can better engage their community.
"They realize that a lot of people especially young people are using Facebook and other social media to help bring people together, and they recognize that Kinston Teens is doing a pretty good job at It and that's why we are selected for this program and they want to support us even further," he said.
Facebook has also awarded Kinston Teens $50,000 to support their community leadership initiatives.
Chris will be traveling back and forth to Facebook's headquarters in California, each time bringing new ideas and strategies back home.
"I learned so much that I can bring back to Kinston and that is what I am most excited about," he said.
