GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) - Police continue to investigate a series of shootings during a 24 hour period in Greenville.
Three separate shootings happened between Wednesday night and Thursday morning. Police are working to see if the shootings are gang-related or connected in any way.
Chief Mark Holtzman told Nine On Your Side the department is pursuing solid leads due to sources and investigative work.
As of Thursday night, one man, Kareem Gibbs has been arrested in connection with one of the three shootings.
Holtzman said the department is looking for more information to help them close in on additional suspects.
Holtzman said, "We need those little pieces of information to help solve the puzzle for us. It's all about preventing the next case and solving this one."
GPD is still working to identify suspects in two of the three shootings.
The first shooting took place on Greene Street.
Witnesses told police they heard multiple shots fired at two different homes.
The second shooting happened near Cedar Lane, where a car was struck with multiple bullets.
The third incident happened on Douglas Avenue, where a man reportedly shot at a victim.
The suspect of that shooting is believed to be 26-year-old Kareem Gibbs.
Police arrested Gibbs and charged him with assault with a deadly weapon and possession of cocaine.
He is being held at Pitt County Detention Center under a $60,000 bond.
Our reporter Kara Gann visited the locations today and spoke with neighbors.
However, no one was able to shed any light on the shootings.
Gann said that Greenville police were patrolling the area of two of the three locations.
The location on Cedar Lane is right next to Eastern Elementary School.
Our reporter tried contacting the school principal, but he was not available today for comment.
Police are still trying to find the suspects in the Greene Street and Cedar Lane shootings.
It is unclear if these incidents are related to the shooting which resulted in the arrest of Gibbs on Douglas Avenue.
It is known that no one was injured in either of the three incidents.
Greenville Police are investigating a shooting that took place Wednesday at approximately 7:45pm around the area of Douglas Avenue for the report of shots fired.
Upon arrival, officers located multiple witnesses who advised that Kareem Gibbs was shooting at the victim.
Officers were able to locate Gibbs at a residence on Douglas Avenue and he was taken into custody without incident.
The victim was not struck and the investigation is ongoing.
Kareem Gibbs, age 26, has been arrested in connection to the incident.
He has been charged with Assault with a Deadly Weapon with the Intent to Kill and Possession of Cocaine. Gibbs was booked in the Pitt County Detention Center under a $60,000 bond.
Additional details regarding the incident will be released at a later time.
This shooting comes after another reported shooting took place Tuesday night as multiple shots were fired at two separate homes off of Greene Street around 11:30.
Approximately 3 hours later, a car was struck with bullets near Cedar Court.
Police are still attempting to find a suspect in both cases.
No one was reported injured in either.
Greenville Police Lt. Bowen says they are unable to determine if all 3 shooting are connected.
