Police investigate shooting in Jacksonville, 1 injured

JACKSONVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) - Police are investigating a shooting that left one person injured in Jacksonville early Friday morning.

The Jacksonville Police Department responded to the 200 block of New River Drive in reference to shots fired reported Friday around 5:49 a.m.

Police arrived on the scene and said they found an individual suffering from a gunshot wound.

The victim was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries for treatment.  

“We are in the preliminary stages of this shooting investigation,” said Chief Ronnie Dorn.
