Police investigating two overnight shootings in Kinston, 1 injured

KINSTON, N.C. (WNCT) - The Kinston Police Department is investigating two shootings that occurred Thursday overnight in Kinston.

On Thursday around 12:57 a.m., police responded to a shots fired call at 1500 block of Hyman Avenue in Kinston.  

Police arrived on the scene and said they found a victim with multiple gunshot wounds on the 500 block of Jackson Lane.

The victim was identified as 18-year-old Khalil R. Crouell.

Crouell was transported to UNC Lenoir and then transported to the Vidant Medical Center.

Police said that a residence in Kinston was struck by the gunfire.  

A second shooting was reported around 2:32 a.m. at 802 Nelson Street in Kinston, police said.

Police responded to a shots fired call and they arrived on the scene.

A residence was struck two times by gunfire, police said.

Police said they recovered several shell casings in the street near the residence.
