Police looking for missing runaway teen in Wayne County

GOLDSBORO, N.C. (WNCT) - Police are looking for a missing runaway teen that was last seen on July 22 in Wayne County.

The Goldsboro Police Department said that on July 22 around 2:00 a.m., Ashanti D. Harper, 15, ran away while her aunt was at work.

Harper was last seen by younger cousins at the residence.

Police said that Harper left her aunt's house located on Antioch Church Road in Goldsboro through a bedroom window.

Harper was staying with her aunt for the summer break and had been at the house for approximately three weeks.

Police said Harper took some personal items and clothing in a bag.

She doesn't have a working phone, but she has a phone that will transmit through wi-fi.

The family believes she had been communicating with a tall skinny black male who told her he was 17-year-old.

The suspect was reported to have a lot of tattoos.

Police were told that Harper and the suspect met through Instagram through wi-fi communication.

Harper is a military dependent who has lived in New Jersey and Fayetteville in the past.

No one has heard from her since July 22 and her Instagram and Snapchat accounts have been closed or restricted, police said.

She is described to be a light complexion woman with black hair and uses extensions.

Harper is approximately 4'10 in height and 110lbs. and was last seen wearing a pink coat and dark pants.
