WASHINGTON, N.C. (WNCT) - One Washington salesman is speaking out about his relationship with George H.W. Bush.
Richard Fountain was the owner of Fountain Boats while President Bush was in office.
Fountain had the chance to travel to Maine to ride with and visit the Bush Family.
On countless occasions, Bush and Fountain spoke over the phone and rode boats together.
In total, three fountain boats were sold to the Bush family.
Fountain remembers his friendship with the late president and the meaningful conversations they shared.
"He (President Bush) and the entire secret service and his wife Barbara treated me just like I was a member of the family, like one of his sons," said Fountain. "He made me feel like one of the most important people in the world, but in reality, I was with some of the most important people in the world."
Fountain is still designing boats and has sold thousands of boats across the country.
