The “Stamp Out Hunger” food drive is being held Saturday
The event is a partnership between the Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina and the National Association of Letter Carriers.
Last year, the drive collected more than 350,000 meals locally.
George Young, eastern regional director of the Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina, said it’s easy to help.
"They've given everybody a bag to put out at their post office box, (to) fill that with canned food,” said Young. “And last year they did over 20,000 pounds of food. And we're looking forward to that same result this Saturday, May 12, with our letter carriers."
Once the letter carriers return to their post office, volunteers will be on site to unload, sort and load the donations into food bank trucks.
