GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) - The North Carolina State Highway Patrol is keeping an eye out for drunk drivers this holiday season.
Their Booze it and Lose It campaign starts Friday and runs through January 2.
Last year, more than 80 people in the East received DWI’s during the three weeks.
The goal of the campaign is to prevent alcohol-related crashes.
"One of the things we will be doing is targeting impaired drivers,” said Master Trooper Brad Taylor. “We are going to have, the Highway Patrol, as well as other North Carolina law enforcement will have checkpoints across the whole state. We will also have troopers out working late hours."
If you get a DWI, expect a loss of driver’s license, attorney fees, substance abuse classes, court penalties, fines and more.
