Storms over holiday weekend don't impact vacation rentals

ATLANTIC BEACH, N.C. (WNCT) --- Despite the storm Monday that caused flooding in some coastal areas, vacation property rentals went up for the holiday weekend.

Bluewater Realty said their vacation rentals this year were actually up from the same time last year.

Property Manager Anne Holloway said the company has preparations in place for hurricane season.

“We do of course,” said Holloway, “make sure that all of our guests are aware of what’s going on, and that they know kind of what the expectation is as far as leaving the island if there is a mandatory evacuation.”

Bluewater also offers travelers insurance to their customers so that if there is a mandatory evacuation for bad weather they can get their money back.
