Recovery efforts are underway in the town of Maysville, where the town experienced downed trees and road closures because of the storm, plus days without power and water.
"This storm was historic,” said Schmuta Brown, town manager. “I have been here 42 years, and I've never seen this kind of damage as far as the town side and the citizen side. We are minor compared to Pollocksville and Trenton. We did make out a lot better than those guys did."
Public officials called Florence one the most massive storms to hit the area.
The town manager estimates repairs could be made within the next six months.
Power and water have been restored.
The town is now working to clean up debris near homes.
