WINTERVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) - Rucker Johns employees say with little notice, they were told on Friday they no longer had a job.
A sign is now on the restaurant's doors of its Winterville location on S. Memorial Drive.
It reads Rucker Johns is permanently closed as of September 1st.
Nine On Your Side knocked on the door for an interview.
We were given the restaurant's regional office number to call to ask for permission, but was told no one would be there because of the holiday.
So, we reached out to the Emerald Isle location to speak with the owner Chris Johns.
Despite being instructed by a manager to do so on Sunday, we were told the owner wasn't there.
We then talked to the Emerald Isle location's general manager Mark Sheppard who said all questions would have to be directed towards the owners.
When we asked Sheppard about employees not receiving any notice he responded, "waiting until the end of the week to inform employees was not a decision made lightly."
Rucker Johns does have two other locations across North Carolina in Emerald Isle and in Wilmington.
