GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) – Coffee creamer doesn’t have the best reputation when it comes to calorie count per serving, or when it comes to the grocery store price tag.

In this week’s Make It Monday, we’re showing you how to make your own so you can still have a tasty home brewed cup of coffee without having to sacrifice the sweet taste of flavored cream.

Here’s what you’ll need:

-14 oz. sweetened condensed milk

-1 3/4 cup milk

-2 tsp. extract

-Empty container

First, get your condensed milk and pour it into a container you’d like to use for your creamer.

Local mom and DIY enthusiast, Amanda Adkins, suggests recycling an old coffee creamer container.

“You can use milk, cream, heavy cream, soy milk, almond milk, pretty much any kind,” said Adkins.”

Take your choice of milk and add it to the container.

Next, add your extract. The varieties are endless. Amanda is choosing to keep it simple with 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract.

“What you’re going to want to do is shake it really good because the condensed milk is really thick,” said Adkins.

Let it chill in the fridge and add it to your favorite cup of coffee.

Not only will it taste amazing, but depending on the type of condensed cream you buy, you may also save about half the number of calories.

You can make 32 oz. of this creamer for only about $3.
