Man arrested for prior crime after being stabbed overnight in New Bern

NEW BERN, N.C. (WNCT) – A victim of an overnight stabbing was arrested after being released from the hospital Friday morning, according to New Bern Police.

Police tell us Jamal Edwards stabbed on the arm near the intersection of Bloomfield and Main streets in New Bern.  Edwards was able to leave the area and make to Craven Terrace before collapsing.  Police say he was also suffering from an asthma attack.

He was taken to the hospital and released. Police say they then took Edwards into custody for an outstanding warrants from a May 30th stabbing incident where he was the suspect.

Edwards was taken to the Craven County Detention Center and given a $25,000 bond.
