It happened Saturday evening into early Sunday morning.

During a DWI checkpoint on Wayne Memorial and Hare Road, deputies noticed a vehicle stop short and obviously make a U-turn away from the checkpoint.

Deputy M. A. Bleyer began pursuit and deputies say the driver, 42-year-old Eric Rowe, did not stop.

During the chase, the suspect turned left into an apartment complex in the 3800 block of Wayne Memorial Drive.

Deputy Bleyer attempted to arrest Rowe, yet he was actively resisting him and causing a struggle.

Inside Rowe’s vehicle was additional suspected cocaine and medication.

Rowe is charged with Flee to Elude, Possession of a schedule II controlled substance with the intent to sell and deliver, possession of drug paraphernalia, resisting a public officer, driving while impaired, driving while license revoked, damage to property, expired registration, and for having unsafe tires on the vehicle.
