A man was charged with drug crimes after deputies allegedly found cocaine in his car during a traffic stop Friday in Bertie County.
On March 29 in Lewiston, deputies with the Bertie County Sheriff’s Office, Hertford County Sheriff’s Office, and the Down East Drug Task Force conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle driven by John Dembry Jr., after deputies received complaints that he was allegedly selling illegal drugs in Lewiston.
Police K9 Bosch sniffed around Dembry’s vehicle and gave a positive alert for the presence of narcotics.
Deputies searched the vehicle and found cocaine inside.
Dembry was arrested and charged with Possession WIth Intent to Sell and Distribute Cocaine and Keeping or Maintaining a Dwelling or Vehicle for the Use or Sale of a Controlled Substance-Ilegal Drugs.
Chief Herman Purvis with the Lewiston Police Department took Dembry to the Bertie Martin Regional Jail, where he is being held on a $15,000 bond.
