BLASDELL, N.Y. (WIVB) – A forgotten cell phone is to blame for a lengthy investigation into child porn possession against a Blasdell man, police say.
Officers say Bryan Mackinnon, 39, left his phone at a local bar in August of 2015, and police eventually discovered child pornography on it, prompting a lengthy investigation.
Blasdell Village Police partnered with Cheektowaga Police and the Erie County District Attorney’s Office to help further the investigation along, leading to Mackinnon’s arrest just a week ago.
Mackinnon now faces charges of possession of a sexual performance of a child under 16 – a felony charge.
Officials say Mackinnon immediately pleaded guilty to the charges at his arraignment. As a condition to his plea, he’ll immediately register as a sex offender.
He’ll officially be sentenced at a later date.
