In Martin County, changes will be coming to the county’s regional industrial park thanks to more than a million dollars in grant funding.
The grant was awarded by the NC Department of Commerce’s Rural Ready Site’s Program for infrastructure improvements in the Martin County Regional Industrial Park. The program helps rural communities prepare prospective sites for industrial development.
The funds will go towards expanding the gravity sewer system and the rehabilitation of the existing elevated storage tank inside the park in Everetts.
“It gives us a lot more opportunities to attract more companies, more tax base and more jobs for our park,” said Jason Semple, President and CEO of Martin County Economic Development.
Martin County is providing a 10 percent match for the grant.
The full project in the park will cost an estimated $1.1 million.
