Military spouses honored ahead of Mother’s Day

Those standing at the front line are often recognized, but it’s those who support our service members that were honored Tuesday morning.
Support Military Spouses and McDonald’s partnered to hand out gifts to military moms ahead of Mother’s Day.
More than 350 Jacksonville area spouses received a care package that included a handwritten thank you note.
This month alone, 1,000 gift bags will be distributed to military spouses in North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia.
Co-Founders of the organization said military spouses are the heroes on the homefront.

“The military spouses in my opinion are the unsung heroes. They are so humble and the simple act of
a thank you, it means so much to them,” said Diane Rumley, co-founder of Support Military Spouses.
The idea started back in 2009 with 30 care packages.
By the end of this year, 70,000 care packages will have been delivered since that time.
