GASTONIA, N.C. (AP) – Gaston County police say more than two dozen people have been charged after they seized at least 100 illegal gambling machines.
Multiple media outlets reported that the machines were taken Thursday from nearly 50 locations.
Police said the 28 people are charged with misdemeanor offense of possessing a slot machine.
Police said the arrests and seizures came after an investigation of several months.
Police said they got help from police departments in Gastonia, Mount Holly, Cherryville, Belmont and Bessemer City.
