RICHLANDS, N.C. (WNCT)-A motorcycle wreck sends an Onslow County Sheriff’s Office employee to the hospital Sunday.
Highway Patrol tells WNCT that 43-year old Thomas Sigman was headed home from work Sunday evening when his motorcycle was rear-ended by a truck. Officials confirmed that Sigman is a jailer with the Onslow County Sheriff’s Office.
Sigman was on Highway 111 when the incident happened. Troopers say 21-year-old Hannah Newman drove up behind the motorcycle but failed to reduce speed, hitting Sigman from behind. Sigman was thrown off his motorcycle and into a ditch.
He was airlifted to New Hanover Regional Medical Center.
He is expected to be okay.
Newman is charged with failure to reduce speed.
