GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) – The first day of school did not go off without a hitch in Pitt County.
Close to 20 school buses were out of commission Monday morning and didn’t show up at their scheduled bus stops.
Community and student services director in Pitt County Travis Lewis said there were some mechanical issues with starting and lights. They were held back to ensure they were safe enough to transport students.
Lewis said parents should call the school if a bus doesn’t show up. Usually, the bus driver has already reported it and they are working on getting it running again.
