An investigation is underway in Mississippi after officials found a pregnant dolphin dead on a beach in Waveland.
A necropsy showed a small caliber bullet in the dolphin’s lung, which proved to be the cause of death. The unborn calf died as a result of the mother’s death.
NOAA officials are seeking information from anyone who may have information. The NOAA Enforcement hotline is 1-800-853-1964. Several groups have teamed up to offer a $6,500 reward to anyone who can provide information leading to an arrest.
