An Alabama man is accused of beating a toddler to death because the child would not sit on the toilet while he was trying to potty train him, WKRG reports.

Willie Anthony Burton, 30, is charged with murder and aggravated child abuse in the death of his girlfriend’s 2-year-old son who died on Monday.

Prosecutors allege Burton was trying to potty train the child and became angry when the child would not sit on the toilet, according to the news station. That’s when he hit the child in the head, causing an inter-cranial hemorrhage. The child was also struck in the abdomen, police said. His kidney was lacerated and his stomach was separated from his small intestine, according to police.

Burton, who was on probation when the incident allegedly occurred, was arrested and booked into Mobile Metro Jail on Tuesday night.

On Friday morning, his bond was set at $250,000. WKRG reports that $10,000 of that must be paid in cash.
