Parking changes are coming to New Bern after the Board of Alderman adjust what streets fall under its two-hour restriction.
The changes come after Tuesday night’s Board of Alderman meeting.
City leaders voted to lift the restriction on part of South Front Street where the entrance of the North Carolina History Center at Tryon Palace. This part of the street is a Municipal Service District and is paying for parking enforcement that was outside of the city’s footprint.
Several people spoke for and against the parking restrictions during the public comment. One restaurant owner said he would like the parking enforcement to extend to three hours instead of two.
Other business owners say they like the restrictions as they are now and have seen more foot traffic in their stores.
