New Bern Police seek new tips to ID suspect in 2011 assault and death


Eight years after a man died following an assault in New Bern, police are still collecting tips from the public to identify and convict a suspect in his death.

On April 8, 2011, New Bern Police officers responded to a reported assault in the 200 block of Craven Terrace.

The victim, Alphonsa Morris, 79. of New Bern, was rushed to the Pitt County Hospital in Greenville, where he died from his injuries on April 11, 2011.

Police are again asking the public for help to identify a suspect in the man’s assault and death, so they can bring closure to the victim’s family.
