New Bern police trying to solve 2011 homicide case

NEW BERN, N.C. (WNCT) In New Bern, this week marks the anniversary of an unsolved homicide.

The New Bern Police Department is still searching for information in the case.

79-year-old Alphonsa Morris died from an assault back in April of 2011.

On April 8, 2011, police responded to the 200 block of Craven Terrace in reference to an assault.

Morris was transported to Vidant Medical Center in Greenville, where he succumbed to his injuries on April 11, 2011.

Though years have passed, the New Bern Police Department is asking for the public’s help to solve the case.

The department said they have several homicides cold cases dating back to the 1990s.

“Some of them we haven’t had any new information on in some time,” said Lieutenant David Daniels. Some of them we just want to remind the community that these cases have not been forgotten and we ask that if they have any information on any unsolved case homicide or larceny, we ask that they come forward and share the information.”
