WNCT has obtained Dave Mirra’s autopsy and toxicology reports from the NC Office of the Chief Medical Examiner. While the toxicology report only shows signs of a small amount of alcohol in Mirra’s body at the time of death, the autopsy report details that a rapid urine drug screen did test positive for benzodiazepines. GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) – TMZ Sports is reporting on its website details of the medical examiner’s report for BMX legend Dave Mirra’s death investigation.
In the report, TMZ Sports says it confirms the 41 year old shot himself in the head on February 4th with a .38 Smith & Wesson revolver. It goes on to say Mirra’s family told law enforcement he suffered from depression and heavy drug use before he died, however the toxicology report did NOT show any traces of drugs in his system at the time of his death. The report did show Mirra had a small amount of alcohol in his bloodstream.
In May, Mirra’s family released a statement saying they learned in March that Mirra did in fact have CTE, the brain disease associated with concussions.
WNCT is working to obtain a copy of the medical examiners report.
