FERGUSON, M.O. – A new interim police chief was named today in Ferguson, Missouri.
The Department came under fire after last year’s police shooting of unarmed teen Michael Brown.
Andre Anderson was most recently a commander in Glendale, Arizona.
He said he’s ready to hit the ground running to improve community and officer relations.
“I am ready to work with the community and members of the police department with a caring nature as well as bringing my experience in community policing and community engagement to help us move forward,” Anderson said at a news conference.
Anderson also wants to attract qualified applicants to the department and try to have the staff better reflect the community’s demographics.
