New president sworn-in at Pitt Community College


A history-making moment today at Pitt Community College. Dr. Lawrence Rouse is now the 5th president of the college.

He’s also the first African American to hold the position in the college’s 58-year history.

Students, faculty, family, and friends filled the room for today’s special occasion.

The program started with a welcome and music by the PCC chorale and ended in a standing ovation once rouse recited the oath.

People from all over eastern Carolina and further came out to celebrate in today’s events.

9 On Your Sides, Aaron Deane spoke with Dr. Rouse today and this is what he had to say about the future of the college under his leadership.

I think the future will Intel that all of our student that comes to us will be able to enter the college seamlessly to get customize education that fits their needs,” Said, Dr. Rouse

Dr. Rouse goes on to say that he is focused on helping students find more internships and first-hand work experience. Not only that but making sure the student’s future employer and 4-year universities get the type of people they need.
