GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) – Greenville held its first “Shell and Bones Festival” at the Towns Commons Sunday.

There was all you can eat NC blue crabs, multiple seafood and local food vendors.

Event organizers Jumail Blount and Javius Dixon said the idea sparked after the success of the BBQ festival.

They said they hope Greenville residents take advantage of the opportunity to enjoy the last of the summer.

Muriel Hines loves crabs and made it her mission to be there.

She said this is a great event for Greenville, “It is fantastic we need things like this so we don’t have to go out of town to do you know just to get some good seafood and just enjoy the summertime.”

The Washington Seafood and Crab Shack vendor said this is the best time of their year to eat crabs because it is right before the cold so the crabs are at their largest.

Dixon and Blount said they hope to make it an annual event.
