More and more people are taking on extra work to put extra money in their pockets and they’re doing it through a side hustle.

According to a new survey by Bankrate.com, nearly 40% of Americans have a second job and it’s mostly men and millennials.

59% of side hustlers say they’re doing this for extra income. 38% says it’s to cover ordinary living expenses.

The survey says the average side hustler earns about $686 a month. That means it’s possible to earn more than $8,000 a year.

The most popular side jobs include: home repair/landscaping, online sales, crafts, and childcare.

If you’re considering a side hustle, be sure to read your contract and make sure there aren’t any conflicts of interest.
