A Johnston County man was arrested after a recent road rage incident at a McDonald’s drive-through on U.S. 70 in Clayton, police say.
Brandon Michael Gonzalez Rubio has been charged with assault with a deadly weapon and injury to personal property.
Police said on Saturday, Rubio was in line in the McDonald’s drive through and refused to move.
Several cars behind him started honking, but he wasn’t deterred, police said.
Police said a woman then drove out of the line, pulled up beside Rubio and told him he was holding up the line.
Witnesses told police Rubio responded with an expletive, officials said.
Just after that is when police said that woman drove in front of him. In response, he rammed her car, according to police.
Witnesses said Rubio then got out and started yelling, kicking and hitting her car.
“People need to just control themselves. If you wait five more minutes to get food, you’re not going to die,” Anthony DeFlorio, a regular visitor to McDonald’s said.
“A little confused as why somebody would get that angry,” Danielle Raba of Clayton said.
When questioned by police, investigators said Rubio tried to blame the crash on the woman, claiming she tried to cut him off and collided with his car.
Fortunately, no one was injured.
“If you don’t have McNuggets for another 10 minutes you’re going to be fine,” DeFlorio said.
