The North Carolina State Highway Patrol revealed its brand new helicopters in a special ceremony on Tuesday.
The two Bell 407 helicopters debuted at the SHP’s Aviation Unit hanger in Raleigh.
The SHP says approximately 85% of the missions it conducts with helicopters involve searching for missing children in local communities, and sometimes in other states.
At Tuesday’s ceremony, SHP Commander, Colonel Glenn McNeill, said, “As the needs associated with providing public safety have advanced, upgrades to the equipment used to meet those needs must be continually assessed. The aircraft on display here today possess extremely sophisticated technology that can be used to save lives, protect communities and deter criminal behavior.”
The two new helicopters are operational and ready to begin serving the people of North Carolina.
