Drinking beer at your college’s football game here in North Carolina could happen soon.

A bill that would allow public colleges and universities to sell alcohol at public college sports games is well on its way through the legislature.

The bill appears to be something that not only many college sports fans can get behind, but also something legislators can too.

The bill passed its third reading in the House and has been passed on to the Senate. It will be heard in the Education/Higher Education Committee on Wednesday.

The bill would open the door to beer and wine sales at college sports games statewide.

As far as support, it seems to be widespread, but the bill could face some criticism just as many alcohol bills do.

Sponsors of the legislation say they’ve heard from law enforcement, administrators, and students and believe it’s a positive step for both safety and growth.
