A Raleigh family is asking for the public’s help to find a missing 64-year-old man who suffers from Stage 4 lung cancer.

Joi Johnson said it’s unusual not to hear from her husband of more than a decade, Larry Johnson

“My husband, he’s a strong man. A strong-willed person,” she said. “He believes in God giving him second chances, giving people second chances.”

Johnson said she hasn’t seen or heard from her husband since Monday.

“He normally says ‘good morning’ and ‘goodnight.’ He sent me a text message on Monday telling me where he was and asked me to pick him up at that time,” she said.

Johnson said she had to take her children to school and couldn’t pick up her husband.

She said Larry told her he was at Southlight Healthcare on Garner Road, but Johnson says she’s never known him to go there before.

Johnson said her husband does spend time at nearby men’s shelter on South Wilmington Street. He does community outreach there.

“I went there, also, and they told me that he wasn’t there since Friday. It just made me really nervous,” said Johnson.

Larry was diagnosed with Stage 4 lung cancer in 2016 and is on medication for pain, Johnson said.

“He’s a miracle because it’s been stabilized and controlled for a few years. However, it’s still in his body, and because I haven’t heard from him I’m concerned along with his children,” she said.

Raleigh police are investigating Larry’s disappearance.

Johnson said her husband is 5-foot-6 and about 165 pounds. he is likely wearing a navy or black tracksuit.

“We’re looking for you. We’re praying for you. We love you. Contact us right away,” said Johnson.
