Woman dead in Elizabeth City after crash with NCDOT truck

ELIZABETH CITY, N.C. (WAVY) -- Police are investigating a fatal crash that happened Friday in Elizabeth City. 

A woman was killed in the crash at the intersection of N. Hughes Boulevard and Richardson Street.

According to police, officers were called to the scene just before 11:30 a.m.

Eloise Ida Hastings, 57, of Elizabeth City succumbed to her injuries after her 2015 Nissan Versa Note collided with a 2016 Ford Super Duty truck.

The driver of the truck was not injured. 

The truck is registered to the North Carolina Department of Transportation. 

Police say the investigation into the cause of the crash still underway.
