MOORESVILLE, N.C. (AP) – The body of a 4-year-old boy reported missing has been found in a nearby pond in Iredell County.
The sheriff’s office said the boy was reported missing from his home in Mooresville shortly before 6 p.m. Monday.
The sheriff’s office said in a new release that a diver found the body of Cullen Anthony Lintzenich in a nearby pond late Monday night.
Crews had been searching the pond after the boy’s battery-powered toy vehicle was found overturned in the water.
Sheriff Darren Campbell told local media that the boy was last seen around 4:30 p.m. Monday. His mother said she did not initially report him missing because she thought he was with his father.
The sheriff’s office is investigating.
