Officials: Greenville city employee suspended without pay after weekend arrest


A Greenville city employee is out of jail and suspended without pay after a weekend arrest, officials said.

Matthew S. Davis, 34, was charged with felony second-degree kidnapping, felony assault by strangulation, misdemeanor injury to personal property, misdemeanor interference with emergency communications and misdemeanor assault on a female.

The Greenville Police Department arrested Davis on Sunday.

According to public records, Davis is an employee in the City’s Human Resources Department serving as an HR Generalist.

He joined the department in May 2018.

Davis is currently suspended without pay.

He was released on an $11,000 bond on New Year’s Eve.
