WASHINGTON, N.C. (WNCT) – The first phase of the Vidant Beaufort Hospital expansion project is now complete.
Officials held a ribbon cutting ceremony Thursday at the hospital’s new emergency department.
The $17 million expansion and renovation includes 9,000 square feet of emergency department space and renovation of 3,500 square feet. The first phase of work began in April 2017 and is designed to better serve the needs of the community in Beaufort and surrounding counties.
This 9,000 square feet expansion completes the first and largest phase of construction which includes 12 of the 16 patient rooms planned for the project.
Phase two of the project will begin in mid September which includes a 3,500 square foot renovation of the existing emergency department.
The work is expected to take 8 months.
