Beaufort County Schools has been without an official superintendent since May 2018. Eight months later, they have finally welcomed a newcomer to the position, Matthew Cheeseman.

Cheeseman has spent the last 23 years in education.

Cheeseman makes his way south to Beaufort County from Perquimans County Schools. He also spent time in Washington County Schools.

“When you go from different school districts you find different programs, you find different opportunities that you can put forward for students based on their interests, and their families interests, and the communities interests,” he said.

School safety and increasing limited resources are some of the areas he hopes to advance.
