JACKSONVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) – The Onslow County Animal Services Shelter is at full capacity as of Tuesday.
The shelter had an influx of animals this summer.
Nearly two dozen puppies were dropped off at the shelter on Tuesday alone.
This weekend, they’re hoping to get many of the animals adopted by holding their semi-annual adoption event.
“If somebody is available just for the week, if they can hang on to the dog until Friday and bring them directly to PetSmart for us we would love the assistance,” said Shelter Manager Rachel Conklin. “The more animals we get out there the more will get adopted, because having that variety lets people select the right pet for their family.”
They are hoping by foster parents helping out they will be able to take more pets to their shelter that need a home.
The event is at the PetSmart on Western Blvd. in Jacksonville from 11 am to 6 pm Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
