HUBERT, N.C. (WNCT) – Flags are at half staff in front of the Onslow County Sheriff’s Office Monday to honor fallen Detention Center officer Cynthia Cannon.
Sheriff Hans Miller confirmed Cannon was killed in a motorcycle accident Sunday night.
Highway Patrol troopers say a truck turned left in front of the 54-year-old’s motorcycle on Sand Ridge Rd in Hubert. Cannon was unable to stop.
The driver of the truck, 26-year-old Jessica Burnetsky, is charged with Misdemeanor Death by Motor Vehicle.

One person is dead after a Sunday night accident in Onslow County.
The North Carolina Highway Patrol says the accident happened on Sand Ridge Road near Crown Point Road in Hubert at 6:14p.m. Sunday.
