SNEADS FERRY, N.C. (WNCT)- An Onslow County man is dead after a car accident Tuesday morning.

The Highway Patrol says 20-year-old Nicholas Jenkins was driving on Swan Point Road just after 6:00 a.m. when his car struck 2 trees, splitting his car in half which caused his engine to catch on fire. They say debris from the car hit a mobile home near by.

Jenkins died on scene.

Trooper Cross says Jenkins was traveling at least 75 miles per hour down the road, in a 35 mph speed limit area.

The accident is still under investigation.

There was one person in the mobile home at the time of the crash. They were not hurt.
