Pamilico County Sheriff’s Office investigates illegal drug activity in Bayboro where they seized large amounts of drugs and weapons. 

The Pamlico County Sheriff’s Office conducted a drug investigation at 1402 Lynch’s Beach Loop Road, on Monday, February 18th, 2019. The office received a citizen complaint of illegal drug activity at the residence. 

The Pamlico County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation (NCSBI) and North Carolina Department of Marine Fisheries (NCDMF) Marine Patrol. 

The agencies executed a search warrant at the suspect’s home.

Deputies seized cocaine, prescription medication, and marijuana during the search of the home. They also seized a large amount of bullion and precious metals, thirteen long-guns and rifles, and six handguns were seized by law enforcement.

Johnnie Gray Mercer,65, who lived in the residence, was arrested during the investigation. 

Mercer is charged with felony possession of cocaine, possession of a controlled substance with the intent to manufacture, sell or deliver 3, 4 and 5. 

Mercer is at the Pamlico County Detention Center under a $1 million bond.

His next court date is Feburary 22.

The investigation is ongoing, and additional charges are expected upon receiving NCSBI Crime Lab Analysis results.
