BLACKSBURG, V.A. (WNCT) – Virginia Tech dominated East Carolina on Saturday, powering past the Pirates 54-17 in Blacksburg.
After trailing 38-0 at the half, ECU (2-2) showed brief glimpses of productivity in the third quarter.
Philip Nelson connected with Jimmy Williams for two third quarter touchdowns to cut the lead to 47-14.
Jerod Evans guided the Hokies (3-1) with 3 passing touchdowns and one rushing score.
The special teams for ECU struggled in the first half, giving up one punt return touchdown and having another punt attempt blocked.
The Pirates also had a Davis Plowman field goal attempt blocked in the first half.
Zay Jones was a bright spot for the Pirates with 10 catches for 115 yards.
