GREENVILLE (WNCT) – East Carolina began the team’s first real work on North Carolina State at practice on Tuesday in Greenville.
The squad worked for some two hours installing much of the game plan for Saturday’s game with the Wolfpack. Both East Carolina and North Carolina State are 1-0 on the season.
“It was a great day of install and work,” said first-year Pirate head coach Scottie Montgomery. “We had some carry-over defensively and offensively, so now we are gettting rolling in second week. We usually start feeling really good about things three or four weeks in.”
Senior quarterback Phillip Nelson was almost perfect in his Pirate debut. Nelson maintains that this Pirate team has to stay focused on the task at hand.
“Our goals are all the same, to go 1-0 this week,” said Nelson. “We had a great practice today. I’m proud of the way the guys didn’t have a hangover from Saturday . We came out and it was all business.”
Saturday’s kick-off is set for 12 noon and the game will be telecast on ESPNU.
