GREENVILLE, NC (WNCT) -The dog accused of killing seven goats at a Pitt County 4-H camp is headed to the Pet Adoption League of New York.

They have agreed to pick up the chow mix before the shelter closes today. Animal rights supporters created an online petition last week to save the dog’s life.

Witnesses say a large chow mix dog dug under or jumped over a chain link fence on June 23rd, killing seven goats and injuring another six. The dog was sent to Pitt County Animal Services with her puppies, who were put up for adoption.

Animal rights supporters created an online petition to save the life of a dog.

Animal control says this dog is responsible for attacking goats at the county campgrounds in June.

Officials say the dog killed seven goats and injured others.

They caught the dog after the attacks and have kept her in quarantine. Officials plan to euthanize her on Monday (July 6th).

Those supporting the dog have started a petition to see if a rescue would pull her from the shelter. At one point, the petition had over 1,000 signatures.

The dog was brought in to the shelter with puppies. They have been put up for adoption.

Petition can be found here.
