The Pitt County Sheriff’s Office says one man is behind bars for failure to report a new address as a sex offender.

While conducting a monthly check, deputies determined that John Randolph Pippen was not in compliance with the registry requirements according to North Carolina general statutes.

Pippen was arrested on Thursday, December 13 and charged with Failure to report a new address. He was given a $1,000 secured bond.

The purpose of such checks is to verify if the registered sex offender is actually residing at the address to which he/she is registered.

Details on the legal requirements can be found under North Carolina General Statute § 14-208, Article 27A, Sex Offender and Public Protection Registration Programs.
